Dog and Puppy Obedience Training Class

Our popular obedience classes are a great way to have your dog, or puppy, learn the basic commands which include; “watch me”, “come”, “sit”, “settle”, “down”, “stay”, “wait”, “stand” and everyone’s favorite, “leave it”. You will even have some fun learning a few tricks! We use field proven positive reinforcement behavior methods that were initially developed during wolf pack studies on a sanctuary in Northern Georgia and then put into practice with over 20 years of successful dog training results and over 900 (and counting) satisfied customers. Your dog wants to make you happy! We will use that as a basis to focus our training.

Owner and Dog Trainer, Tammy Wilson-Teeter, is a behavioral specialist (known by some as a dog whisperer) and professional active member of IACP. Tammy starts with the basic commands and then has you apply these to social situations. Leash walking techniques are emphasized so that you can enjoy a more rewarding outdoor experience as well as having a better behaved dog at home! Classes are limited to 6 dogs and owners to insure plenty of personal attention during the sessions. Your role and commitment are essential to having the experience be successful. All classes are held at Wiggles and Wags Pet Resort during the evenings. There are four, 1.5 hour, highly interactive sessions given one per week to complete the class (Please see our Rates Page).

You will build a strong foundation and confidence through obedience training with the goals of making you and your dog or puppy a fluid pair when you are outside the home and better behaved inside the home. If you want to take your training to the next level, please talk to Tammy about individual sessions for intermediate skills. With extensive judging and training experience in dog sports, Tammy will also offer individual sessions in competitive Flyball and Frisbee technique. Whether you want to perfect your leash walking skills or develop the next Champion Disc Dog… Wiggles and Wags training will get you there!

Unwanted Behaviors at Home

We have found that people are generally happy with their dog(s) and just have a few unwanted behaviors. We will recreate a home environment at Wiggles and Wags Pet Resort to work with your pet(s) in reenacting and correcting these. Do you need help with Housebreaking, Destructive or Aggressive Behavior, Jumping Up, Excessive Barking, Chewing, Running Away, Counter Surfing or just Bad Manners? Some dogs need help with socializing or have separation anxiety, are insecure, fearful, shy or just have trouble fitting in with your family. Whether your dog is from a breeder, rescued or adopted a private session with Tammy will teach you how to channel your dog’s pack and prey drive into constructive behaviors. First we will discuss your areas of concern, identify the reasons for specific behaviors and make corrections. You will then be in the leadership role to reinforce the new behaviors in your home. Allow 1.5 hours for the initial private session and 0.5 hours for a follow up one week later (Please see our Rates Page).

"Tammy and Howard have an incredible dog training business! If you need help they are the ones to call. My 5 year old cairn terrier, Samee, has always been out of control with really bad barking issues and had started exhibiting some really vicious behavior. I was really scared Samee would seriously hurt or kill another dog, even my own. I also wanted to get a puppy to train for dog sports and was scared Samee would harm it. I didn't think it would work. I paid for other training that was not effective and even contacted Cesar Millan for help but he was too busy and I was told to find someone local. "Tammy and Howard are wonderful with animals. My husband and I recently adopted a Weaten Terrier (notoriously stubborn) named Lucy, and were nearing extreme frustration in her training. She was always jumping and biting and nothing we did could stop it (and I've trained terriers before!).

We got Wiggles and Wags' card from the store where we buy Lucy's food (Tempe Feed and Tack, awesome store!), and after a lot of research discovered their rates and success stories were some of the best in the metro area. Since Lucy's problems were so severe, we scheduled an in-home consultation. Tammy and Howard worked with us for almost 2 hours that first night! Within a week, Lucy was transformed into a different dog. Of course, my husband and I had to be consistent on enforcing the things we learned at our in-home session, but we thought the transformation was incredible.

Tammy just knows what dogs are thinking! She's been in the business for years and any question you have about anything dog related, she can give you guidance. We were so pleased with the in-home session, that we are joining the September group class, and she is grooming our sweet puppy as well! These two do this for the love of the animals, you can just tell. I would recommend them to anyone looking to train their dog; whether you are needing help learning to "sit" or looking to join a Frisbee club, Tammy and Howard can be of service!

The business aspect is a well oiled machine as well. When I first scheduled an appointment, I was given an email confirmation and everything was very prompt. I had to reschedule (twice! due to a family emergency), and they were very understanding and flexible. I was sent reminders and confirmations for each appointment. On the day of the in-home session, they arrived promptly and did not seem like they were rushing to get out the door when our time was up. You can tell they love dogs and want to see them succeed, even if they have to stay an extra 15 minutes. =)
